The Brayscroft Hotel was originally built as a spacious Edwardian family house. It has been carefully and sympathetically restored into a delightful small hotel with antique furniture and original paintings. Owned by Sue and William Carter, and personally run by Sue, the hotel is managed with flair and sensitivity.

The hotel is ideally situated a minute from the seafront and a short walk from the bandstand, pier, Western Lawns and the Carpet Gardens. The theatres and the Devonshire Park Tennis complex are also within easy walking distance. The start of the South Downs Way is a short walk along the seafront and walks around Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters country park - an area of outstanding natural beauty - are close by.

We offer elegantly furnished single, double and twin guest rooms all of which are with ensuite bath or/and showers, central heating, colour television with DVD players and other facilities. Each room is comfortably and thoughtfully furnished, having a refreshment tray with bone china crockery, a good selection of hot drinks, biscuits and complimentary mineral water. Fresh milk is available daily on request. Fluffy bathsheets and dressing gowns are also available as are a selection of films on DVD.

There is a separate guest lounge furnished with antiques and original paintings from various local artists. We have plenty of literature on surrounding tourist attractions, Charleston Farmhouse (home of the Bloomsbury group) art galleries and countryside visits. We hope that you will share our delight in Eastbourne and that the surrounding Sussex countryside, with its pretty villages, will also inspire you.

The Brayscroft has a no smoking policy in guest rooms and public areas.

Evening meals are available by arrangement daily. We aim to use fresh ingredients and we choose the meal of the day with you, tailoring it to your taste. Many of our guests return, which is always a good sign. Hotel inspectors rate our meals as excellent. The hotel is licensed for residents and their guests.

We try to buy fresh local ingredients daily. Fish is bought from the Eastbourne fish shop on the beach, or from Newhaven, a local port. Our eggs are all free range from Woodlands farm and sausages are made by Old Town butcher Nigel Heath. Sue is keen on making her own jam which is available on request. This year, we are offering an alternative to a full English breakfast, if required. Sue was a cardiac nursing sister and is keen to provide healthy alternatives.
